I bet you’ve had those nasty breakouts before - the kinds where you have no idea where they came from? Well maybe there is a way to find out! In traditional Chinese medicine, there is a practice called “face-mapping”. It is believed that the place on your face in which you tend to break out may be caused by other organs.
Do a quick search of “face-mapping” and many new articles come up. This once ancient practice has now become a trend in the latest health and beauty blogs. But is it accurate?
Here are some guidelines we found online. But of course, we always recommend you do your own research and talk to a physician before making health care decisions.
Acne on your forehead is typically related to your digestive system. Maybe you’ve been indulging in junk food lately or haven’t been staying hydrated. Forehead acne suggests that you should try to eat less processed and more whole foods.
Between the Eyebrows
You might have had a “Girl’s Night Out” this weekend and now it's Monday morning and you notice a pimple in between your eyebrows right before you head for work! Getting acne in between your eyebrows suggests liver issues. That greasy dinner you ate, coupled with the few drinks you had after may have contributed to this. Remember to try to stay hydrated and to flush out any toxins in your system to avoid acne in this area.
Developing acne on your cheeks may indicate respiratory issues. Breathing in polluted air may cause this, as well as smoking. Smokers generally have congested or broken capillaries around the mouth and cheek area which link back to the lungs. If you are not a smoker, the air in your home might be just as bad as the air in the city. Invest in potted plants that liven up your home and purify the air as well. Remember to do breathing exercises as well!
Chin acne is more than likely related to hormonal imbalances and stress. Try to take it easy, have a cup of spearmint tea and just relax. You deserve it! Also remember to eat clean proteins and antioxidant rich veggies!
Take care of your body and your skin will look great.
